Andrew Firkins was born in New York City and raised in the suburbs of New Jersey. His academic journey started at Manhattan College. There, he earned a bachelor’s degree in history, honing the research and critical thinking skills that would later define his legal career.
He enrolled at Pace University School of Law in White Plains, New York, in the summer of 2008. While pursuing his Juris Doctorate, he continued to work as a law clerk for a large, full-service law firm in Hackensack, New Jersey, seamlessly blending his academic studies with real-world application. After earning his Juris Doctor, he joined the firm as an associate in the firm’s insurance coverage and defense practice group, launching his career as an attorney.
In late 2014, Andrew and his family relocated to Knoxville. After a period working for a mortgage company, he found his professional home at Spicer Rudstrom, joining the firm as an associate in 2017. Over the past eight years, he has become an integral part of the Knoxville team and a trusted advisor to his clients.
Focusing on a diverse range of civil matters, Andrew’s key practice areas include Construction Law, Insurance Defense Litigation, Premises Liability, Products Liability, and Transportation Law.
Andrew’s legal credentials extend across multiple jurisdictions. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Tennessee and New Jersey. His federal admissions include the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, enabling him to represent clients at multiple levels of the judicial system.
He is also an active member of the legal community, holding memberships in both the Knoxville Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association.
Andrew dedicates time to volunteering with the Essential Documents for Essential Workers project, offering free wills and other essential documents to law enforcement officers. He is also passionate about legal education and mentorship, regularly contributing as a volunteer for the annual mock trial competition organized by the Young Lawyers Division of the Knoxville Bar Association.
Outside the office, Andrew enjoys time with his wife, Kim, and their two sons, Cole and Rhys. A passionate hockey enthusiast, he serves on the board of the local adult hockey league and takes to the ice as a defenseman for the Americans Hockey Club.
